Install WordPress on localhost in Ubuntu 11.04

WordPressis an open source blog tool and publishing platform powered by PHP and MySQL. It is often customized into a Content Management System (CMS).

It has many features including a plug-in architecture and a template system. WordPress is used by over 14% of Alexa Internet’s “top 1 million” websites and is the most popular CMS on the internet according to BuiltWith.

OPEN TERMINAL IN UBUNTU AND RUN THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS

At first you need to install LAMP(linux,apache,MySql,php)for installing lamp follow my earlier tutorial “HOW to install lamp on ubuntu”

$ wget http://wordpress.org/latest.tar.gz

$ tar -xzvf latest.tar.gz

$ sudo mkdir /var/www/wordpress

$ sudo mv wordpress/ /var/www/wordpress

$ mysql -u root -p

Now enter your Mysql password.after entering your password you are now in Mysql shell.now run the following MySql commands

mysql> CREATE DATABASE wordpress;

mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON wordpress.* TO “username”@”localhost” IDENTIFIED BY “password”;

mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

mysql> EXIT

Now open your browser and type http://localhost/wordpress/.installation of wordpress script starts.now enter the simple details like DATABASE NAME,DATABASE PASSWORD etc.IF you are not able to install wordpress through this tutorial you also find th e orignal tutorial HERE:-“OFFICIAL WORDPRESS INSTALLATION TUTORIAL”
